Trekking in Nepal Our trekking trips take you through pristine sub-tropical and temperate forest of alpine pastures and glacial lakes with grand views of majestic peaks of Nepal. Popular short treks are available around the Kathmandu and Pokhara valleys, which only take one, two or three days to complete while longer treks lasting from a week to a month. When to Go: The best time to trek in the popular regions of Annapurna, Everest and Langtang is from March to May offering better weather and trekkers can see superb wild flowers, particularly rhododendron blooming forests.
Likewise, October and November is also the ideal period for trekking after the monsoon ceases. December, February is also possible to do trek in the lowland Terai and Kathmandu valley rims but at high altitudes the cold could be bitter.
Trail Conditions: The trails are well maintained, and many trails with uphill slopes are often paved with stones. Trekking in Nepal entails walking up and down countless times. Most treks go through the altitudes ranging from 1,000m to 3,000m. However, the Everest Base Camp Trek, undoubtedly the most popular trek routes, reaches over 5000m. Normally one can trek for four to seven hours a day.
1) Tea house Trek: On the more popular treks in Nepal, enterprising villagers have built teahouse lodges. They are readily available in the Everest, Langtang and the entire Annapurna regions. The country offers a selection a teahouse treks run to a high level of service.
2) Full boarded Camping trek: This trek is assisted by a full Sherpa crew including a Sirdar (headman), cook and other helpers. Porters, Yaks, horses of mules are used for carrying luggage. It is the Sherpa's responsibility to perform all the camp works, including leaving all the sites clean and to guide on the route.
